The ministry explained that Salihijo is a renewable energy expert with two masters degrees in development studies and project planning. The statement added that the new CEO is an indigene of Adamawa state.
The ministry further disclosed that Buhari also appointed Olaniyi Alaba Netufo as the executive director - southwest and Eddi Mietuade Smith Julius as a non-executive director, south-south.

The appointment of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad followed the indefinite suspension of the former managing director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Damilola Ogunbiyi by the minister of power, Sale Mamman. The suspension of Ogunbiyi was disclosed in a statement by the special adviser, Aaron Artimas, on Tuesday, December 24, The Nation had reported. The minister had asked Ogunbiyi to hand over to the next most senior officer in the agency. He also directed an immediate investigation into the activities of the agency towards repositioning it for better service delivery.
The directive was given by the minister of power, Engineer Sale Mamman, a statement by his spokesman, Aaron Artimas on Tuesday, December 24 revealed.
